Foxfire football starts season with win against West Union

The Foxfire Phoenix headed out to West Union on Saturday, August 15th, where they faced the Dragons on their home field. The two teams battled through the first quarter with no score. The Phoenix scored a touchdown in the second quarter to leave West Union with a 6 – 0 deficit going into the halftime break.

When the game resumed, Foxfire held their lead throughout the third quarter. West Union wasn’t going down without a fight, and they let that be known in the last minutes of the game by grabbing a game-tying touchdown to send the game into overtime at 6 – 6.

In overtime play, Kydon Perdue grabbed a pass intended for a Dragon receiver. Foxfire capitalized on the interception with a 15-yard touchdown run by Ishaan Bowen to win the game 12 – 6 and take a 1 – 0 overall record to start their season.

Perdue and Blaze Hook both recorded interceptions for the Phoenix; Braydon Peach had a sack and a tackle for a loss; and AJ Tipton led the defense, tackling 5 and getting a TFL in the game.

Foxfire will host the Noblesville Lions on Saturday, August 29th; kickoff is set for 4 PM.
