On the field in West Muskingum on Tuesday night, the Black Bears faced the West Muskingum Tornadoes. Coming off a 2024 State Championship title and making it to the 2025 Regional Finals, the Black Bears’ senior team captains were looking to start their season off on the right foot against West. The Tornadoes’ veteran roster took full advantage of their experience and jumped out to a 1 – 0 lead before the end of the first half against River View.
River View answered back in the second half with one goal, but West Muskingum pushed on and kept the pressure up as they added two more shots that found the net before the end of the game, taking a 3 – 1 victory.
Sophomore Gage Rollins grabbed all three goals for the Tornadoes, with Austin Fink and Brooks McCune providing assists for two of the goals. Jax Lowe had the single goal for River View.
The Tornadoes move on to face Bishop Rosecrans on Saturday, August 22nd at 7 PM, back on their home field.
