Philo shocks Tri-Valley with clock-ending winning touchdown

Vs. Tri-Valley (9/11)

The Electrics hosted the Tri-Valley Scotties on Friday, September 11th at Sam Hatfield Stadium in Duncan Falls. Philo knew they would have an uphill battle against the Dawgs, but they were ready for it, taking charge early on to lead 10 – 7 after a field goal at the end of the first quarter. Tri-Valley answered back in a big way, tying up the game and pushing ahead for a 21 – 10 advantage going into the halftime break.

Back on the field for the second half, Philo fought hard in the third quarter to pull within three points with a touchdown to end the period trailing only 21 – 18. After having the initial lead at the end of the first quarter, the Electrics were stoked to push back into the lead after a touchdown in the fourth quarter put them up 25 – 21. The Scotties would not let it rest there, though, as they forced a touchdown next to climb back to a 29 – 25 lead. Philo wasn’t about to let the Scotties take another straight win; with literally no time left on the clock, the Electrics pulled out a huge upset by landing a touchdown for the 31 – 29 win over Tri-Valley.

The Electrics will head to Tornado Country on Friday, September 18th, to take on West Muskingum. Kickoff will start at 7 PM.

Vs. Morgan (9/4)

Just down the road in McConnelsville on Friday, the Electrics charged the Raiders, taking a 6 – 0 lead with just 5:51 left in the first quarter. Philo kept the Raiders shut out going, clear through the second quarter as they wrapped up the half with a 19 – 0 lead.

After halftime, the Electrics picked up where they left off, grabbing a touchdown to build their lead to 26 – 0. Morgan inched their way onto the scoreboard, answering Philo’s touchdown but still trailing 33- 2 at the end of the third quarter. With a running clock in the final period, the two teams battled on, but Morgan could not make enough headway to square up with their visitors, and Philo took the 35 – 6 victory.
