Vs. Philo (9/11)
Friday night at Sam Hatfield Stadium, the Electrics hosted the Scotties for an MVL showdown. Despite coming into the game as the underdog after a 6-5 overall season where Tri-Valley left them with a 37 – 15 loss, Philo stepped up early to take a 10 – 7 lead after a field goal at the end of the first quarter. After regaining their footing, the Scotties bounced back in the second quarter to pump out two touchdowns while holding Philo at 10 to lead 21 – 10 at halftime.
After both marching bands performed for the crowd, the teams took over the field in the second half. The break gave the Electrics time to reflect and review their strategy, and they put it into action in the third quarter, narrowing the gap on Tri-Valley with a touchdown to end the period barely trailing 21 – 18. Early in the fourth quarter, the Electrics pulled off another touchdown to take the lead again for the first time since the first quarter with a score of 25 – 21. Tri-Valley answered back minutes later with their own touchdown and extra point conversion to take the lead back 29 – 25. As the clock ticked down, it was looking like Tri-Valley would take another win against Philo, but in the very last seconds of the game, the Electrics grabbed a final touchdown to run out the clock and win the game 31 – 29.
The Scotties will host the Morgan Raiders on Friday, September 18th, for their Homecoming game. Kickoff will be at 7 PM.
Vs. Clinton-Massie (9/4)
Under the Friday night lights at Frank Ierlan Field in Clarksville, the Scotties wasted little time in getting to the end zone against Clinton-Massie. Just minutes into the first period, the Dawgs were up 15 – 7. The Falcons were trying hard to fight back with two touchdowns of their own, but still trailed 29 – 14 heading into the second quarter. Tri-Valley held off the Falcons’ offense all the way to halftime as they continued to build their lead up to a 36 – 14 advantage at the break.
Out of the locker room, the teams each put up a touchdown in the third quarter, which left the Falcons playing catch-up heading into the fourth at TV 43 and CM 21. The Scotties doubled their efforts in the final minutes of the game with two touchdowns while holding the Falcons to one final touchdown to win the game 57 – 28.
Tri-Valley’s Leevi Wade had a record-breaking night, rushing 346 yards with six touchdowns.
