The Buzz was established in
2018 after a long-standing
local newspaper in the village
of Dresden closed. With a
background in publishing,

son, decided to get to work de-
veloping a community-focused
newspaper spreading positive
news, promoting events, and
featuring local athletes. Along
with the help and support of
her husband, Matthew, and
two kids, the journey to bring
an independent newspaper to life began.

As The Buzz’s five-year anniversary approached, an organization from the other side of
Muskingum County reached out and asked for coverage of a major milestone in their
history. Originally, no one else wanted to pick up the story, and during that same time,
it was not uncommon to hear that people wanted more local news coverage in print. So,
at that time, the decision was made to massively increase efforts at The Buzz to expand
the coverage and distribution area so all of Muskingum County would be included.

It is our mission to produce a high-quality free
newspaper that matches or exceeds the community’s
expectations while still being fully accessible in print and online to all people - no pay
walls - no fees - and not filled with more ads than content.
